This hands-on assisting and anatomy intensive will provide you with concrete skills for safe, effective hands-on assisting. You will deepen your understanding of asana and yoga anatomy, transforming your teaching, your assisting, and your practice.
This is an action based, experiential 20-hour program. You will benefit from both giving and receiving as you learn how different assists feel in your own body and break down the poses allowing you to fully understand any pose. Hands-on assisting is a skill. Learning to assist students takes clear intention, energetic alignment, and a commitment to service.
In this training you will learn:
• Basic skeletal and yoga anatomy
• How to assist safely, effectively and powerfully
• The lines of energy that let you assist any pose, and the actions behind poses
• The qualities of great assists that enhance the experience for the student
• How to create and hold space for students to trust and find a new edge.
This intensive is open to everyone. It is an essential and complete training for new or experienced teachers, aspiring teacher assistants, or for those who would like to deepen their understanding and experience in asana. As a teacher, you will gain confidence and tools in delivering assists that are skillful, effective, and empowering. As a practitioner you’ll gain new perspective of your personal practice, a greater understanding of the poses and the alignment principles and anatomy behind them, and a deeper understanding of energetic flow.
To graduate you must complete the entire program, complete all required peer assists, and test out with a qualified BFree teacher.
