A Weekend with Patanjali: Demystifying and Understanding the Transformative Properties of Yoga Psychology
Light practice/movement, meditation, philosophical discussion and personal exploration into the deeper questions of:
What does it mean to be human and can I ever really be happy?
Why is there so much suffering (in my own life and in the world)?
Is liberation really possible?
What are the rewards and obstacles of the path to awakening?
What are the 8 Limbs of Yoga and why are they helpful?
What are the philosophical directions for yoga on the mat and how/why do I feel that work transforming my life off the mat as well?
The Yoga Sutras are more than just philosophy; they are texts on the deeper workings of human psychology and the shared human endeavor for peace. Written and preserved from ancient times, the Yoga Sutra’s, give us a deeper context of Yoga, as a whole, and an understanding into how and why yoga transforms.
Because the Sutras are not necessarily written in a linear format they can be difficult to decipher in a practical and comprehend way. Because of this, they are often dissected and taken out in chunks. In this workshop, I will discuss the Sutras like a story. Weaving thru and coloring a picture of the Sutras in a practical and personal way: from what it is to be Human, to what it is to be Yogi, the Obstacles of the Path and the Rewards to the Endeavor.
